MARTA HOSTS SUCCESSFUL NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY EVENTS
ATLANTA - The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) hosted local community organizations as part of National Voter Registration Day, helping to register hundreds of people to vote.
National Voter Registration Day is the nation’s largest non-partisan civic holiday dedicated to helping eligible citizens register to vote. Every year, MARTA partners with community organizations to raise awareness and promote voter registration and active participation in elections.
Community partners held non-partisan voter registration drives at seven rail stations throughout the MARTA system on Sept. 17, resulting in over 475 people engaging with voter registration services, and 221 eligible voters successfully registering or updating their registration information.
“We are proud to have MARTA stations serve as a platform to engage the community in such an important civic initiative,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood. “This event is part of our broader commitment to community engagement and ensuring that public transit plays a meaningful role in fostering civic participation.”
